Summary:

This is an extremely attractive and efficient aircraft, perfect for today's higher fuel prices.  With 90
gallons onboard, N8809P can easily cruise at an economy setting of 185 mph on 11-14 gph depending
on altitude.  Flight logs show a typical economy cruise at 7500' eastbound on 12.5 gph and 187 mph
true.  Westbound is typically 6500', 13 gph at 190 mph true.  This gives you over 1200 mile range with
VFR reserves in no wind conditions.  Top speed is 212 mph.   If you feel like you need to justify your
fuel burn, you can cruise at 11,500' at 10.0 gph and 175 mph true for an economy of 17.5 MPH (2.5
mpg better than my Chevy Pick Up at 65 mph!).
Many late model mods make the 260 the Comanche of choice.  Single handle brakes were
supplemented by toe brakes, 90 gallon fuel tanks are factory installed, the ventilation is much improved,
manual flaps were replaced by electric, dual exhaust simplifies and improves conditions under the
cowling, and fuel injection allows for greatly increased reliability and economy.
With the Garmin 430 and S-TEC auto pilot/GPSS/Altitude Hold combination, N8809P is a perfect
instrument platform.  The Comanche is extremely stable and makes a wonderful cross country aircraft.
A recent 14 hour round robin cross country trip required no added engine oil.  The engine runs smooth
and dry, especially since the addition of fine wire spark plugs (pricey but worth it).
To reproduce this aircraft would cost you in excess of $60,000 in speed mods and $20,000 in radio/
autopilot work.  I would love to keep this aircraft, but a growing family requires two extra seats.  Will
trade for a nice Beechcraft 58 baron or possibly an A-36 Bonanza.
